Fill the Blank in Your Calendar

Procrastination is the great enemy while doing Ph.D. Planning out the tasks helps me to find the best solution to finish it in time and also do not worry about losing an opportunity or getting stuck under numerous deliverables. There are numerous options to plan your day or your year online, create a to-do list and get going. However, none of them worked for me until now. I argue most of them are either very sophisticated, having too many tools not useful for planning a Ph.D project or are very rudimentary, giving you a blank sheet and some checkboxes.

Plan is different though. It is a web app with extensions for Chrome and apps for macOS and iOS that provides an agenda, a calendar, and a working timeline. You can easily create projects, tasks and lists in the app and then drop the tasks in your calendar and allocate time to the tasks.

The greatest part about Plan is that you can see your schedule, in Google Calendar or Outlook, and your tasks all in the same calendar. Making it easy to review your day or week and take care of deadlines, meetings, and all the things that need to get done all in the same place.

Plan also has a Team Feed, but I have not used it for team projects, so I am not sure how good it is. I would like Plan more if it had an Android app or the web app was more user friendly on mobile devices, but it works well on Desktop and I usually have access to a big screen when I am doing serious work.

Plan’s CEO, Darshan Desai, introduced his product about 4 years ago on Medium.
